A Little Jewel Plugin for WordPress: No Cache AJAX Widgets

There are several page caching plugins available for WordPress, with an installed base of perhaps more than 5 million, according to WordPress.org. This means that a large number of WordPress sites use a page caching plugin.

However, what if you want to include a real-time widget in the sidebar of your homepage or another page? For example, a weather plugin or a trending posts plugin? Most of these are not powered by Ajax and, since the page is cached, you will always serve old data.

This issue can be easily resolved if your plugin supports a shortcode. In that case, using the No Cache AJAX Widgets WordPress plugin will do the job for you.

It is very simple to use and you may need the Classic Widgets plugin for easiness. See below an example for the widget “Trending Blog Posts” in our Home page sidebar:

The above example is using the TOP 10 Popular Posts WordPress plugin. No Cache Ajax Widgets plugin works very well with no issues.

** TOP 10 Popular Posts plugin is supposed to support page caching plugins. But that is for counting each blog post or page and not for displaying them correctly. So, that little plugin called No Cache Ajax Widgets solved the problem.
