Hello.
I see something about an upcoming article or post about improving the security of Osclass. Any news on that ?
Thanks !

Hi, yes it is true we had some plans to write a guide on getting better security for Osclass.
But i think we will delay or totally skip that, since we see Osclass slowly dying for a long time now. And classifieds market scripts in general. We are not sure we want to invest any more time in Osclass, while we will continue to use it for now.
If you look at forums.osclass.org, there is a lot of new talk and posts, so i don't see Osclass dying or something.
Anyway, i was only looking for a way to harden the security of my Osclass site.
Thanks !
If you look at forums.osclass.org, there is a lot of new talk and posts, so i don't see Osclass dying or something.
forums.osclass.org has become very hard to follow the last years, being unmoderated. Everybody can do whatever he wants in there, post dups, bump, insult others etc etc.
A very few people really care but i see they participate less as time passes.
It is true their forums are a bit of a mess, still people can get help in there.
So i think they are good for new people that use Osclass (that a lot incl. me are not from USA). What seems to be totally missing is some talk about big Osclass installations (and share tips), talk about the future of Osclass and what is next and things like that. But isn't the same for all scripts (Wordpress for example) ?
Actually NO. Wordpress.org forums you mention have a very strict policy for spam, bumps, irrelevant post, PAID plugins (not allowed). Also Wordpress.org has some very very quick moderators that take care of the forums.
Not to mention that Wordpress.org has a very clear roadmap published, so we know where they are going.
Anyway, Osclass is what it is, you take it or leave it, it doesn't change a bit no matter what.
You are right about Wordpress, they definitely have a published roadmap for their script. Also you are right about Wordpress.org forums, they do have strict rules and moderators to take care of offenders (and move things around).
But Wordpress is a really big organization with a huge percentage of the cms market. Osclass on the other hand is rather small, and probably with extremely limited resources.
