After Osclasspoint upgrade

For me, version 8 is working great. Some plugins that didn't work right with v5, are working just fine.

In your case, you will get TONES of new features, like RENEW ads for members, a lot of new tools to manage your users etc. All new features details can be found at their site.

I don't know how easy or not, it is to go from 3.9 to 8 but it can't be harder that going from 5 to 8.

The only so-and-so about 8 is the support at Osclasspoint. If you read their forums, you will see that for complex issues, while you get some answer, rarely you get a real solution.

No issues with Osclass 8.0.2. Seems a little slower, less responsive but really not that noticable. Maybe it is just my idea.

To be honest, upgrading to Osclasspoint version was an one way road for anyone that takes seriously his classifieds site. We made a MISTAKE to upgrade from 3.9 to 4 and then to 5. We lost 2+ years, dealing with issues and bugs and a developer that clearly was not interested any more.

As for the support at Osclaspoint, i have no idea. Didn't need any help, we rarely ask for help.

What worries me a bit is the fact that there is no real community gathered around Osclasspoint. Their forums seem rather a "customer support" system and that means that there will be no more free plugins or themes. I see no one is developing anything for Osclasspoint release for free or paid but Osclasspoint themselved (all paid). From what i know Osclasspoint developer is not very popular among Osclass other developers (if any still exist).

And before anyone gets excited about my mention about being a little bit slower, here is what i mean

@maximus The important thing is that Osclasspoint version stable and works well without issues, so you can sleep at night.

There are no developers for Osclasspoint because Osclass script is not popular anymore. The same was for the Mindtellar release.

There aren't many Osclass Devs left because the OPEN-SOURCE-Usable Osclass is dead, not because the script became unpopular.

All other versions, except Enterprise, are closed-source and no real developer will start developing on another guy's version...

Also, there's another big problem with the existing versions and plugins, which is the shallowness of everything.

What I mean with this is that you get some premium plugins/themes that look really promising, but after you install and test for a while you notice 2 things: horror Google Translate-style English and a ton of missing features (like the dev got bored and said 'f* it, it's enough, I'll release like this').

So you pay some money, and need weeks to get everything to look/work professionally.

Take my example: I own 12 OsclassPoint plugins/themes, and after 6 months of daily tinkering, I'm still not done with making everything look and work professionally.

Now you do the math: 12 items x 30 Euros/item ... + My work ... 🤬 

This is the real reason why most Osclass user projects don't succeed -> you invest the money and get something that's utterly unprofessional and incomplete, and the big players on the market (competition), eat you alive...

@tango The version from Navjot (Mindstellar) was open source at the start and a couple of developers started developing something, a plugin or a theme but never delivered (@defected did some good work). But after a while they all stopped because the main developer didn't care much or for other reasons never shared (bu i guess what they are).

Anyways, this is old news and told 100s of times.

Also yes, Osclass is not popular i'm afraid. All Osclass sites i know (and take care) are probed and attacked with Wordpress hacks and attacks. On the other side Wordpress plugins/themes for Classifieds suck.

As for Osclasspoint, i do remember we got some themes for 3.x of Osclass from MB-Themes (Osclasspoint) and they were so and so and bugs actually were never fixed. But that was years back, maybe now it is better.
