After 3.9 release (11 months ago), nothing new happened. Osclass 3.9 is stable, a few issues and problems, but no "maintenace" release has been issued.
Now i see this post about Osclass 5 beta and as a simple webmaster (i'm no coder) i do not understand why we jump from 3.9 to 5. I read several changes, still i do not see the benefit for me.
Also if the above posts about poor compatibility are exact and most plugins and themes bread, who is gonna fix them? No developer is left for Osclass. We will have to switch to paid ones?
Sorry if my questions are dumb but all i want is to continue to run a small and stable classifieds ads site.
@yannek It is true that the "Mindstellar" releases are focused in code refactor (needed), restructures (needed) and fix a few things (very much needed). Almost nothing new was added.
Also 99.9% of the changes are from one man and slowness is fully understandable. But the 3.9 code is very stable and mostly compatible.
You are correct that for almost a year, nothing new happened. And a year is a extemely big timeframe for a project to sit still. Of cource a lot of things happened in the 5 beta but mostly code refactor and restructure.
The name change from 3.9 to 5 was due to the fact that other 4 and 4.x releases were out from different developers.
This is NOT an ideal situation, i must confess. What you should do imho is to stay with Osclass 3.9 and watch the "war" between versions. And see who will win at the end.
If you have any issues with 3.9, feel free to ask and we maybe can help in some cases.
Maybe competition will motivate all of them and that could be good (at the end).
Also this "releases war" can kill all 3 releases for good.

To properly test the beta you must also update/install Bender 3.23, attached here. For some unknown reason, it is not included in Osclass 5 beta at Github archive.
