ASNs to Block: Why and How to Do It With WordPress

Our website was (and still is) attracting bots and scrapers of all kinds. While it is well-protected with Imunify360 at the server level and the Wordfence WordPress plugin, it seems that bots and scrapers are still ‘eating’ up our hosting resources.

After two years of examining the Wordfence logs, we realized that rate limiting is practically useless, since bots and scrapers come from many different IP addresses simultaneously.

And Yes, we have tried blocking by country, but this is not fair to legitimate users, so we stopped.

So we installed a different way to trap all the bots. Stay tuned to read how we currently block them by using AS numbers.
