Rapid Cache: Comet Cache Resurrected
Comet Cache is an abandoned WordPress plugin since 2016. At WordPress.org we are informed that it is updated a few months back from now, but this is false (not sure how they fake that information).
Comet cache was the BEST caching plugin ever, until WordPress version 5. After WP 5.x several issues were reported and also the plugin was already abandon-ware.
But i have good news for you! A few months back a developer and MegaOptim forked Comet Cache as Rapid Cache. They fixed a few issues and removed links and references to the old plugin.
Rapid Cache works exactly like Comet Cache, extremely easy and stable. It just works, using php mode to server the cached pages (and not mod_rewrite mode). There is not much interest from webmasters until now, so let’s give it a push to become popular.
While Rapid Cache (and Comet Cache legacy plugin) doesn’t have any Preloading features, in 2022 it is not much needed. Seach Engines and other bots do the job of preloading just fine.
Update by Editor in February 2022: It seems the support for this plugin is next to zero both at WordPress.org and Github. Maybe that’s why it is NOT picking up in WP installations number. Pitty.
Well the support of Rapid Cache is not so great.
But this cache plugin has only 200+ active installation on WordPress.org !!!!
This is true, the audience is very limited.
Still the plugin is excellent, much much better than WP Super cache spaghetti plugin, that has 2 millions installations.
It is exactly the same with Comet Cache, with some issues fixed.
I believe Rapid Cache deserves to be popular.
The support could be better.
